Training for GO Center Coaches
- Develop understanding of the community and how it functions
- Explore workforce and career opportunities within the community
- Discover opportunities for developing collaborative relationships in the community
- Develop and apply leadership practices that can be translated to students
LFW is contracted by the Fort Worth Independent School District to provide professional development leadership skills training as well as exposure to community resources related to identified career clusters. Participants include all the GO Center coaches assigned to middle schools, a number of high school coaches, and the GO Center coaches hired by TCU.
GO Centers are physical spaces in schools and other locations equipped with computers and other resources to help students research career opportunities, college options, and financial aid. They are staffed by coaches, some hired by the FWISD and some hired by outside entities.
Training by LFW has provided these coaches new insights and contacts in a variety of career clusters and industries. In addition, they are trained in the Leadership Challenge model by Kouzes and Posner as well as StrengthsFinders. In all cases, they are provided tools to help translate what they have learned to their students.
