Leadership Fort Worth: Promoting Diversity and Equity in the Community

From the Board of Directors

Over our nearly 50-year history, Leadership Fort Worth (LFW) has placed a priority on diversity and inclusion, from board representation, to class participation in our programs, to the issues we highlight in our programs and at our events.

We recognize that we can, and should, do more to educate and train leaders on the impacts of race, racism, disparity and inequality and what we can accomplish together to make Fort Worth a more welcoming and inclusive community.

LFW’s Board of Directors is committed to taking the following actions to foster a more diverse and inclusive Fort Worth:

New Board-Level Committee

Create a board-level Diversity, Equality, and Inclusion Committee to lead the organization’s efforts to advance diversity, equality, and inclusion both internally and in the community.

Partnerships for Scholarships

Partner with minority chambers of commerce groups to provide scholarships to participants who would not otherwise have the opportunity to participate in LFW’s programs.

Exposure to New Perspectives

Work with our alumni and stakeholders to organize and host educational events that bring community leaders together to share their perspectives and explore ways they can collaborate to build a more inclusive Fort Worth.

Share our Platform

Leverage Leadership Fort Worth’s platform to better understand and empower the many cultures in our community.  Organize and lead the community’s vision for a better future.

LFW thanks its alumni, supporters, and sponsors who have and continue to support our mission to educate, empower, and connect the diverse leaders who make up our community.  We recognize that our community is composed of different backgrounds, cultures, ages, preferences, thoughts, looks, paths, skin colors, abilities, and minds, and it is Leadership Fort Worth’s commitment to work with all to better listen, care, and serve as individuals and as a community.

As we support many community organizations and initiatives, LFW believes in justice for all and believes racism has no place in our community. In our current cultural distress, Leadership Fort Worth stands with and supports Black Lives Matter and their efforts to secure justice in our society.

About Leadership Fort Worth

The mission of Leadership Fort Worth (LFW) is to educate, empower and connect diverse leaders for a vibrant, sustainable community. Founded in 1972, Leadership Fort Worth is based on the concept of community trusteeship, which challenges leaders to commit themselves to making their communities better places to live. Leadership Fort Worth serves the community through three adult leadership development programs, a program for eight graders and a forum for continuing education for the full membership.
